Intelligent medical beds

Intelligent medical beds are a core piece of equipment in intensive care unit (ICU) settings. In environments such as intensive care units, post-operative observation rooms, and emergency departments, healthcare staff can precisely adjust the bed's position using a nurse panel or controls to perform complex functions such as adjusting the backrest and leg sections, changing the overall bed height, and saving position settings. Control boxes continuously collect bed operation data and interface in real time with the hospital's nursing system, providing round-the-clock, intelligent system support for the life support and medical care of critically ill patients.

Key features and benefits

Medical-grade safety standards

The products strictly comply with international medical electrical equipment safety standards such as IEC 60601-1, IEC 60601-1-2, and IEC 60601-1-52. They are certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 management systems, as well as international certifications including CE, UL, KC, and RoHS, ensuring stable operation even under unexpected loads or operating conditions.

CPR emergency release — every second counts in emergency care

The intelligent medical bed is equipped as standard with a CPR emergency lowering function. In the event of a critical situation such as sudden cardiac arrest, healthcare staff can activate CPR mode at the touch of a button, causing the bed to automatically and rapidly lower to a horizontal position, thereby securing the golden window of opportunity for cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

● Mechanical quick release: the bed can be lowered to a horizontal position without relying on electricity during an emergency; the screw assembly continuously transmits position signals, allowing the system to monitor the bed's posture in real time

● Controlled descent protection: maintains a controlled descent speed during quick release to prevent secondary injury to the patient

● CPR operation during power failure: a built-in backup power supply ensures that the CPR flattening action can still be performed in the event of a power cut, eliminating any delay in resuscitation caused by a power interruption

● Optional manual quick release: to accommodate the operational preferences of different healthcare institutions, an optional manual CPR quick-release mechanism is available

High load capacity and high protection level

● The linear actuators have a maximum load capacity of 8,000 N (thrust), easily meeting all load requirements for ICU critical care beds

● Water resistance up to IP66W / IPX6, fully suited to the frequent and comprehensive cleaning and disinfection procedures required in ICU environments

Intelligent features empowering intensive care

● Bed exit alarm system: continuously monitors the patient's position in bed to prevent accidents caused by critically ill patients getting out of bed unaided

● Obstacle detection with retraction: the actuator automatically reverses direction upon encountering an obstacle during operation, preventing patients or tubing from being pinched or injured

● Wet detection: promptly detects when a patient has wet themselves, proactively alerting nursing staff to intervene

● Patient weighing system: an embedded load cell module enables precise weighing while the patient is in a supine position, assisting healthcare staff with fluid balance management

● Position memory: stores frequently used care positions for one-touch restoration, significantly reducing repetitive adjustment work for healthcare staff

● Intelligent side-rail system: the control system is deeply integrated with the side-rail structure, enabling precise, coordinated control of position adjustment and side-rail movement

● Bus communication protocol: multi-dimensional data—including angle, weight, and temperature—is uploaded in real time to the nursing management system, supporting digital closed-loop management in the ICU

Silent operation to safeguard the recuperation environment for critically ill patients

ICU environments impose extremely stringent requirements on noise control. Our linear actuators maintain outstanding low-noise performance even under full load, creating a quiet space for the treatment and recovery of critically ill patients.

Backup power supply system in the event of a power cut

A built-in backup power module ensures that the actuator can complete at least 30 full lifting cycles in the event of a power cut, eliminating the risk of equipment failure due to power supply issues.

Richmat's engineers provide end-to-end technical support—from requirements analysis and solution design through to product delivery—safeguarding every moment for every ICU patient and healthcare professional with an absolutely reliable medical-grade drive system.
